Where do young Africans sit in Africa’s development story?

Alphia of Africa responds by

connecting personal transformation to continental development. The platform is anchored in the spirit of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, particularly Aspiration 6: people-driven development that draws on the potential of women and youth. Within this broader youth agenda, the platform gives deliberate attention to ensuring that girls and young women are not left behind.

Yep, that’s me!

I am an Obama Foundation Africa Leader, Global Democracy Fellow, youth governance and development practitioner, speaker, and purpose-driven advocate for leadership, democracy, and civic change in Liberia and across Africa.
I believe young Africans belong at the centre of Africa’s development story. For more than a decade, my work has focused on helping young people find their voices, own their stories, develop their leadership potential, and participate meaningfully in governance, advocacy, and public life—with a particular commitment to expanding opportunities for girls and young women.
Through programme leadership, mentorship, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and public speaking, I turn bold ideas into practical action while preparing the next generation of African leaders to lead with confidence, courage, values, and purpose.
I am driven by faith, rooted in service, and committed to reminding young Africans that where they come from does not limit where they can go.

Elevating Youth Representation

Alphia continues to amplify Liberia’s youth voice on national and international platforms. In December 2025, she spoke at the launch of the World Bank Group Liberia Country Partnership Framework 2025–2030, advocating for youth inclusion in development decisions, expanded opportunities for growth, and investment in young people as key drivers of Liberia’s future.
